Comprehensive Weight Management Program
Obesity is a chronic health condition with multiple contributing factors including genetics, lifestyle options, medications, and other health issues. In an uncontrolled state, obesity can contribute to the development of weight related chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obstructive sleep apnea, high cholesterol, osteoarthritis, and some cancers. There are, however, highly effective and evidence-based treatments for obesity, and these treatments may help to prevent, control, or even reverse common weight- related chronic conditions.
The Wilmington Health Bariatric Surgery Clinic is the only clinic in Southeastern North Carolina that offers a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to weight management that includes lifestyle counseling by a lifestyle medicine certified internist, nutrition counseling with a registered dietician, medical weight management by a board-certified obesity medicine physician, and bariatric surgery performed by a board- certified and fellowship trained general surgeon. This entire spectrum of services is available in one central office, led by a dedicated team of experts with a collective focus on compassionate, evidence-based care.
