Surgery
Wilmington Health Associates surgeons treat diseases or injuries that require operative management, including breast disease, hernias, appendicitis, and gallbladder inflammation, as well as offering subspecialty care for vascular disease and colorectal disease. In keeping with the latest applications of medical technology, the surgeons have additional training in the use of laser and laparoscopic surgery.
Wilmington Health Associates Vascular surgeons have high-level expertise in the evaluation and treatment of vascular diseases, with four doctors having completed fellowships in vascular surgery. Wilmington Health Associates has the only in-office Vascular Access and Imaging Center in the Southeastern Region of North Carolina. In this facility, patients with PAD undergo diagnostic angiography and receive treatments including Diamondback 360 Atherectomy, balloon angioplasty and stent placement. Endovenous laser ablation therapy for varicose veins is also offered in the center. In addition, patients on hemodialysis are able to undergo salvage procedures for their dialysis access. Virtually all of these minimally invasive procedures are performed under local anesthesia with recovery times of one hour or less.
In addition to the state-of-the-art office based practice of vascular surgery, Wilmington Health Associates Surgeons offer a comprehensive program of hospital based vascular treatments including:
- Carotid Endarterectomy and Carotid Stenting for prevention of strokes,
- PAD treatments ranging from Diamondback 360 Atherectomy, angioplasty and peripheral atherectomy to arterial bypass,
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) using traditional open AAA repair and Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm repair.
